The territorial extension of the municipality is 249.69 Kms2; For its administration, the municipality is divided into 18 cantons and 111 hamlets. The city is divided into neighborhoods: San Sebastián, San Miguel, Los Desamparados, El Calvario, and La Cruz.

Weather

The climate in recent years has turned warm; the annual pluvial precipitation oscillates between 1800 and 2000 millimeters. The average temperature of the region fluctuates during the year, between twenty-eight and thirty degrees. In summer, mainly in the months of February, March, April and May, the average temperature ranges between thirty-four and thirty-six degrees. However, due to the evening and night breezes, fresh air is often present at night, as well as light but frequent rains during the winter season.

 Until the early 1960s, Ilobasco was characterized by a pleasant climate, mainly in the months of November, December and January when temperatures regularly dropped to nineteen degrees.
